A great job has been done at Downings Cross by the roads department in Kildare County Council. The junction is much safer as a result and the new road markings are very clear.
Unfortunately the road closure for the works on Wednesday May 29th caused long delays in Prosperous and at Dag Welds. Although signs were in place to advise motorists of the road closures in advance, it was not clear that access to Prosperous from Downings Cross would not be possible.
I asked Kildare County Council to consider delaying any further road closures of this nature at Downings Cross, until 9:30 AM. They have kindly agreed. In any case, it is unlikely that the cross will be closed again in the near future.
