River Road, Allenwood South, was once again submerged this week as the adjacent stream overflowed. Temporary lakes have formed in the nearby fields and gardens, again.
At the September meeting of Kildare County Council I was told that this stream is not in a drainage district and therefore is not the responsibility of the council.
I have found that the stream is indeed part of the Rathangan Drainage District, and therefore, it is the responsibility of Kildare County Council. The reply that I was given in September would appear to have been incorrect.
Today, at the October meeting, I asked that the minutes of the September meeting be amended to reflect this information, and I am now insisting that the council identify and remove any restrictions in the stream on its way to the Slate River, as I had originally requested.
