I was at St. Oliver Plunkett National School in Killina on Monday morning, where I met with staff from the Kildare County Council roads section, Principal Tyrrell and a member of the Board of Management, to analyse the current situation with regard to access and safety at the school.
A number of both short and long term actions, and potential improvements, were identified. We are going to start working on these items, as a team, in conjunction with the parents association.
One short term action which was agreed, was to increase Garda speed checks at the school and I have contacted the District Office of Kildare Garda Division to request that these checks are carried out in the coming weeks and months.
