Under the July Stimulus package, funding was made available for improvements to transport infrastructure. Our district engineer applied for €100,000 for repairs to the R414 in Allenwood South & Lullymore.
I have been informed by Minister Martin Heydon today that this funding has been approved by Government. This is in addition to over €200,000 that was allocated earlier this year for a section of the road.
Given that this is an essential link to Lullymore Heritage Park and given its recent deterioration, I raised the condition of the road in a council meeting last year. Works are now expected to start in the coming months on the full stretch of the R414 from River Road, Allenwood South to Lullymore, at a cost of over €300,000.
