Another of my projects was completed recently at Killina National School with the installation of driver feedback signs on both approach roads to the school.
This was one of the potential improvements we identified when I discussed road safety at the school last year with Principal Tyrrell, Mr. McLoughlinh from the Board of Management, and council staff. I then asked that we allocate the necessary funding from the Municipal District Local Property Tax budget in January and this was approved.
I think the driver feedback signs will have a big impact in reminding motorists that they are approaching the school. The council’s roads team have committed to redesigning the general layout at the school and recently received Government funding to assist with this work.
A consultation will take place before the end of the year to identify other ways we can improve safety here.
