Despite me raising our concerns with Bord na Móna over the haulage traffic to the solar farm construction site in Timahoe North Bog over the last few weeks, residents are still reporting issues with lorries drawing stone to the site.
I have carried out checks at various points on the route and have seen for myself what I consider to be concerning driver behaviour, through our villages, by our schools and on our country roads where people usually walk and cycle.
Our local Garda Inspector shares the concerns of the community and has informed me that his team will be escalating checks on the route from this week. I have formally notified Bord na Móna of the serious concerns we have that our voices are not being heard.
Please keep me informed of any incidents or near misses you witness relating to this construction haulage traffic. I will not stand by and do nothing while there is a risk of danger to our community.
