Martina and I from the Tidy Towns met with Minister Martin Heydon at Allenwood Playground to see the progress that has been made since construction started last September. The contractor estimates the playground will be complete by the end of March or early April.
This project has been running since 2016, when we took on the stalled proposals and held a community meeting to reach consensus on a location for the playground. We are very grateful to ACDAL for offering the site to the community for free several years ago. Kildare County Council are seeking funding for a footpath to the business park, which would also serve the playground, and we await the outcome of that application. We thank the people who started this project over a decade ago before we took it over including our own Tidy Town’s member, Wilfie, who did a lot of the groundwork.
