This page provides a current update for the project to complete the estate of Woodlawn in Allenwood, with the end goal of having it taken in charge by Kildare County Council.
STATUS: ONGOING
SUMMARY: All residential units in the estate have been completed but the public spaces and shared services are incomplete.
TIMELINE
20th January 2019
I was contacted by the Woodlawn Residents Association in advance of their AGM. They provided me with a snag list for the estate and forwarded me on their communications with Moortrim Ltd. since 2017 regarding the completion of the estate.
22nd January 2019
As secretary of Allenwood Tidy Towns, I contacted the Tidy Towns liaison person in Kildare County Council asking how we would pursue the snag list and seek to have the estate completed. My enquiry was forwarded to the relevant contact in the Housing section.
31st January 2019
A reply to my request was made via the council CRM system. It advised that regarding Woodlawn, it has not been taken in charge and the developer is “ultimately responsible for its maintenance”.
10th June 2019
Asked Cllr. Daragh Fitzpatrick to liaise with the developer of Woodlawn to arrange a meeting regarding completing the rear of the estate and the making safe of the building site area. The developer informed Cllr. Fitzpatrick that the work would be done in July or August.
29th July 2019
Given that the value of the bond in place for Woodlawn as reported by Kildare County Council in May 2018 seemed inadequate, I raised the issue of bonds at full council when I asked for an update on the May 2018 report, primarily because of the issues being experienced in Woodlawn and many other estates in small rural villages.
31st July 2019
Leinster Leader publish details of my request for an update to the report on unfinished estates. The article quotes me as saying that the bond for Woodlawn was halved, when it should have never been halved.
1st August 2019
Spoke on KFM Radio regarding my request to have the report on unfinished estates updated. Referred specifically to Woodlawn in Allenwood during the interview, as I did when speaking on the issue at the full council meeting.

6th September 2019
Cllr. Fitzpatrick informed me that he had been talking to the developer and that work was due to start in Woodlawn in the next few weeks.
18th September 2019
Work recommences on the public spaces in Woodlawn.
