My family and I really enjoyed the Annual Old Mass Walk from Drumsru to Allen today. Local historian, Michael Jacob, guided us and provided us with some snippets of information regarding the local landmarks, flora and fauna along the way. We also saw the old Iron Bridges that cross the River Slate and its tributary…

Attended the Kildare & District Football League October meeting tonight where Coill Dubh AFC goalkeeper, Luke Anderson from Allenwood, received a monthly award. Incidentally, the superb trophy was made by local business, Ace Sports Awards, based in Kilmeague. Great to see the KDFL supporting local businesses whenever they can.
River Road, Allenwood South, was once again submerged this week as the adjacent stream overflowed. Temporary lakes have formed in the nearby fields and gardens, again. At the September meeting of Kildare County Council I was told that this stream is not in a drainage district and therefore is not the responsibility of the council….
Delighted to see some work finally being done again in Woodlawn, Allenwood. I have been working with Woodlawn residents Allenwood and Cllr. Daragh Fitzpatrick to keep the pressure on to have the back of the estate cleaned up and properly finished off. Hopefully that happens now to everyone’s satisfaction. I have updated the full project timeline at…
In February, I had the opportunity to update An Taoiseach, Leo Varadkar T.D., about our local West Kildare Fine Gael branch. The branch is the Fine Gael party organisation on the ground, and in our local branch we discuss local issues and what we can do to fix them. The branch also serves as a link to our…

A lot of Residents Associations are getting in touch with me over problems with their estates. Developers are dragging their heels and failing to finish off estates, once their profits have been made. It’s not fair on the people paying their mortgages and rent, to have to fight them alone. The bond system is meant…
In 2018, I did an assessment of the playgrounds in North West Kildare which showed that there is a lack of these valuable amenities in this rural corner of the county. I welcome the publication of the new Kildare Play Strategy 2018-2028 which aims to address that concern by proposing five new playgrounds in Johnstownbridge,…
In the Clane / Maynooth Municipal District meeting for July, I put forward a motion asking Kildare County Council to engage with the main stakeholders involved in offering the site for Allenwood Playground near the ACDAL building on Station Road.
As recorded in the minutes of the meeting, the Parks Section of the council are resigned to the fact that the original site is no longer an option and are now looking for alternative sites for a playground.
A great job has been done at Downings Cross by the roads department in Kildare County Council. The junction is much safer as a result and the new road markings are very clear. Unfortunately the road closure for the works on Wednesday May 29th caused long delays in Prosperous and at Dag Welds. Although signs…
