I had the great pleasure of visiting TírMóna Athletics Club recently to meet their committee and see their excellent facilities and learn about their plans for upgrading their grounds. Based in Hodgestown, the club is open to children from all the surrounding areas. They train on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 7PM to 8PM. Please…
Well done to Dinny and the team for organising the very successful Sunday Funday in Coill Dubh at the weekend. €4,100 was raised for Relay For Life Kildare and the Irish Cancer Society. I was not expecting to be hauled into a tug-of-war in my good clothes though by Dag Kelly. Best of luck to…
We had a great day at the Bog of Allen Nature Centre last weekend for #biodiversityweek. Aisling loves pond-dipping so much that I have to drag her away from it. Thanks to Nuala, Tristram, Ruari and Sorcha for looking after us all so well with so much going on. They have more events on this…
I had a great time meeting with the TY students of St. Farnan’s today to tell them about the work of a councillor and how they can help their local communities become better places. They are a great group of young people, and their teacher, Ms. Flanagan, runs a brilliant TY programme for them. I…
Carbury Bog is the only Natural Heritage Area in the north-west of the county and the road through it seems to get littered a lot, sadly. Thanks to the local Tidy Towns groups on either side of the bog for coming together to get it cleaned up this weekend. I am going to see about…
The new bus stops in Johnstownbridge are now in place and getting good use throughout the day. It made no sense for the 120C bus service to pass through the village without stopping, given the population and services in it. The BREDA Centre has been campaigning for this for a long time and myself and…
Grace’s Park in Derrinturn is now taken in charge by Kildare County Council, following agreement at our council meeting today. It has taken some time to get it up to the necessary standard but this work been supported by all councillors throughout. Well done to the residents who got organised and made the request to…
The footpaths in Ashgrove, Derrinturn, were repaired last week and the estate is looking very well thanks to George, Sylvia and all the residents association. This project was funded using Local Property Tax, as are many of the footpath projects that the council complete each year in our area.
Thanks to County Kildare Leader Partnership CLG., and North West Kildare Womens Group for organising a great community event in Coill Dubh last week. It was the largest crowd I have seen in Coill Dubh Community Centre for a long time and well done to Thomas and the residents group for making it available. Fair…
