At a recent LBDC Community Alert meeting where planning for the Spring Clean in Lullymore, Drumsru, Barnaran and Cappanargid took place. Our local community Gardaí were present also with some helpful advice as always. One of the longest established community groups that I work with in my area and I always look forward to meeting with them.

Thanks to everyone who braved the weather to clean up their areas today and feel free to continue the good work tomorrow. We won’t give up the battle against those with no respect for our countryside. Thanks to Kildare County Council and Bord na Móna Drehid for their support.
Well done to Broadford Area Residents Association on another successful spring clean on the Knockirr Road through Carbury Bog today. Thanks to Paddy for organising everything and fair play to all who helped today and yesterday by litter picking in their own areas.
New CCTV cameras and signage have now been installed on the Knockirr Road through Carbury Bog. This follows a request to me from Paddy Maguire of Broadford Area Residents Association after the massive cleanup earlier this year in conjunction with Carbury Village Residents Association. Thanks to the Environment Section and local Roads team of Kildare…
Carbury Bog is the only Natural Heritage Area in the north-west of the county and the road through it seems to get littered a lot, sadly. Thanks to the local Tidy Towns groups on either side of the bog for coming together to get it cleaned up this weekend. I am going to see about…
Massive thanks to the staff of Lullymore Heritage & Discovery Park for volunteering to clean up this load of household waste that was dumped in Bord na Móna owned Lodge Bog. Bord na Móna did not have the resources to do it, but the local community group LBDC Community Alert were able to get it…
There is a €150 fine on the way to this Hiace van driver that threw his plastic bottle onto the road side near Dag Welds the other day. It should be a much bigger fine in my opinion, but it might make him have more respect for our countryside the next time he’s passing through…
Well done to Tim Maher and all the residents on Station Road, Allenwood for holding a massive community clean-up on Saturday. Over 30 bags were gathered and I have arranged for the council to take them away. Thanks also to Allenwood Tidy Towns, Allenwood GFC and Martin Farrell for their support. Local businessman, Martin Farrell,…
On behalf of Allenwood Tidy Towns, my thanks to local landowners, residents, bog owners and our neighbours AES Bord na Móna in Drehid, for gathering up and removing almost 22 tonnes of waste from the laneway to Blake’s Bog in Allenwood. Now that we have it clean, we are going to do our best to…
Beautiful Ballyteague Forest was the latest target of illegal dumping this week. Evidence was found by myself and the Community Warden today. A family in Bray, Co. Wicklow, will be fined and possibly brought before a judge now to explain why their household waste ended up in a lovely local amenity in Co. Kildare. I…
