I had a walkaround with the council engineer who looks after bus shelters in Kilmeague last week, to look at options for new bus shelters there. We have some ideas for potential locations and are going to start the process of planning them now. Given the popularity of the 821 Local Link it is important…

Following a motion by myself, it was agreed at our most recent council meeting to allocate Local Property Tax funding towards a traffic survey on the section of the Slí na Sláinte in Derrinturn, which goes from the GAA to Windmill Cross. This is the first action to come from the recently published masterplan for…
Well done to my cousin, Elaine, who held a very successful coffee morning in Carbury on Saturday morning. She was raising funds to support the great work of Carbury Carers, who she volunteers with. Over €1,000 was raised, which is a very good morning’s work.
Well done to the residents of Hawthorn Manor, Coill Dubh, which was taken in charge by Kildare County Council at our monthly meeting this morning. The residents association have worked really well to get the estate completed by the developer to the standard required in a very short time frame.
The Carbury area has another new defibrillator now, thanks to Ticknevin Community Group and Principal Nora Lynch of St. Brigid’s NS. Eric Ryan of Balyna Community First Responders was on hand again to provide his excellent training to a large group. A reminder that Community First Responder volunteers are needed for the Ticknevin / Killina area, but would be…
A small but important job completed this week. This service cover on the Slí na Sláinte in Derrinturn was dangerously loose and was reported to me by a resident. Thanks to that resident for bringing it to my attention before someone was hurt. It is also on the route from Grace’s Park and Dreenane Park…
Thanks to Eric Ryan of Balyna Community First Responders for giving his time to introduce the community of Killina to CPR and AED use. Thanks to the staff and parents association of St. Oliver Plunkett NS for installing the new AED and organising the very good training session. First responder groups are always looking for new volunteers…
My thanks to the Sustainable Transport & Roads teams in Kildare County Council for working with the NTA to prioritise the replacement of the bus shelter in Coill Dubh. The new shelter is now installed and looks much better. The old shelter was in a terrible state and I am glad to see it gone….
Bord na Móna submitted a planning application to expand the Drehid Landfill facility earlier this year and it was possible for community groups and individuals to make submissions, following a public meeting in Carbury GAA. I made a 14 page submission outlining a number of key recommendations for Allenwood, Killina, Derrinturn and Dag Weld’s Cross,…
The new extension at Allen Graveyard is complete and the area has been completely transformed. Myself and Cllr. Daragh Fitzpatrick have been stressing the need for this extension continuously over the past few years and we are delighted to see it done now. Thanks to the staff of the Environment Section in Kildare County Council…
