I am told that repairs have now been carried out on the light at the Broadford recycling facility which will make the area safer in the dark evenings. My colleague Cllr. Tim Durkan has requested that the flooding at the facility be resolved and I am told that work is planned to alleviate that too.

The Area Engineer informs me that it is planned to undertake drainage works on Maher’s Well Road and Malone Way Road in Allenwood South next week. I raised the issue of flooding on Malone Way Road in the council chamber in March and I hope that these works will permanently resolve the flooding issue there….

I marked World Wetlands Day with a guided tour of the amazing Lullybeg Wetlands by Michael Jacob yesterday. Situated just west of Lullymore, the old Bord na Móna railway tracks run right by the wetlands and this provides yet another good reason to reopen those tracks as walkways for the public.
