Killina Road Ownership Clarified

For four months now, I have been trying to work with Kildare County Council to clarify the ownership of a road in Killina Lower, that I wrote about in November 2018. It has been an extremely frustrating ordeal, to say the least.

Eventually, following a Freedom of Information request, the council have admitted that they do in fact own a 90 metre section of the road, and have neglected it for decades. They now say that they will “fill some potholes on the road” which is entirely unacceptable.

Now that I have pointed out the error, the council need to bring the full section of public road up to the standard of the existing section. In addition, I am going to continue the fight to have the remaining section of road taken in charge, given that I have evidence that residents on that section paid contributions to an improvement scheme in 1993.

Progress, but the fight continues.

Up to date timeline for this project is at https://b-wy.se/killina-roads

In the map below, the section in yellow is currently being maintained by the council, section in red was not being maintained as the council incorrectly denied ownership.
