I celebrated International Bog Day today by assisting the Irish Peatland Conservation Council on their Lullymore West Bog butterfly conservation area. We were clearing scrub from the area to make it more habitable for the butterflies.
The area is home to many species of butterfly, including the endangered Marsh Fritillary, which I have spotted myself out there. The IPCC also have an information board for visitors and the area is not too far from the Lullybeg Wetlands, which is a lovely place to go for a walk and where I visited on the last International Bog Day in 2019.
