Minister Heydon has announced €810,394 of Just Transition funding for ACDAL Allenwood. It is well deserved as ACDAL is growing in strength, providing more and more jobs for the community, as well as spaces for local groups like the Men’s Shed, Scouting Group, Na Fianna Ladies GAA and the site for the future playground.
It is a very appropriate funding stream given the history of the Michael Fitzpatrick Enterprise Park on the site of the old ESB power station, which provided employment not just in the station, but in the surrounding bogs where peat to fuel the station was harvested.
