Robertstown GAA ground was officially named the ‘Maurice Musgrave Park’ at the weekend. Well done to Declan Percival and the club’s committee for honouring their long standing member and current joint President in this manner. I was delighted to attend the centenary dinner dance, where I met Maurice, who co-wrote a brilliant book that tells…
Great work by the Kildare County Council roads crew in Allenwood South this week. The lane between Doyle’s Wood Road and Malone Way Road had become very unsafe due to the hedgerow overgrowth and the condition of the road surface. Repairs to the road and trimming of the hedge were carried out at my request,…
I have observed firsthand, danger and confusion at the junction of the Resurrexit road in Kilmeague recently. Cars were shooting across from the Prosperous direction, partly due to the lack of clear road markings. I recently requested the council to redo the markings at the crossroads and I am delighted that the Kildare Newbridge Roads…
Well done to the Public Realm team in Kildare County Council on receiving a grant of €100,000 towards the project to improve the entrances on the three main approach roads to Prosperous. These entrances should help improve the identity of Prosperous and, at the same time, introduce traffic calming on the approach roads to the…
This latest pile of rubbish in Ballyteague contained two pieces of evidence identifying an individual living in a nearby village. We also have CCTV footage of vehicles using the bog lane. I have handed the evidence over to the Community Warden and the person will receive a fine very shortly. At some point I am…
At the October full council meeting today, I proposed that the council make a bye-law to set the speed limit at all primary and secondary schools in the county to 30 kilometres per hour, at all times of the day. At Killina National School, the nearest school to the entrance of the Drehid Waste Management…
I was recently made aware of the overcrowding issues on the 139 bus service to Maynooth University and TU Blanchardstown. I contacted JJ Kavanaghs and they have assured me that they will be discussing the possibility of additional services at peak times with the NTA in the near future.
My family and I really enjoyed the Annual Old Mass Walk from Drumsru to Allen today. Local historian, Michael Jacob, guided us and provided us with some snippets of information regarding the local landmarks, flora and fauna along the way. We also saw the old Iron Bridges that cross the River Slate and its tributary…
I was happy to help the Lullymore, Barnaran, Drumsru and Cappanargid Community Alert Group with organising their recent Crime Prevention Talk in Rathangan. Thanks to the speakers on the night, Sergeant George Doherty, Sergeant Gavin Dunphy, Sergeant Paul Pender, Conor O’Leary of Muintir na Tíre and Fiona O’Loughlin TD for chairing the talk. Councillors Daragh…
Attended the Kildare & District Football League October meeting tonight where Coill Dubh AFC goalkeeper, Luke Anderson from Allenwood, received a monthly award. Incidentally, the superb trophy was made by local business, Ace Sports Awards, based in Kilmeague. Great to see the KDFL supporting local businesses whenever they can.
